More of Fuzz being Fuzz this week. Insufferable bastard hates his new diet and is an asshole should his feeding schedule be slightly different. He's gotten in the habit of gnawing on my alarm clock power cable in the morning when I don't get up early or fast enough for him. Pulls it right out of the socket, so I have no idea what time it is or if I have overslept(which used to be a common occurance).
Here's an old picture from his early days with me. Back then he was insufferable by getting into everything at all hours and full of energy. He found the space at the top of the kitchen cabinets pretty quickly.
If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -- George Carlin

Product review
Bose AE2 Headphones
I picked these up the other day. It has become increasingly difficult to find a decent over ear headphone that isn't insanely overpriced. At $150, these aren't cheap, but a relative happy medium. Also, nearly every decent name brand headphone is noise cancelling, which is a nice feature, but personally for the way I plan to use these(on my computer), I don't like noise cancelling. I like being able to hear ambient noise when necessary. These are again, a happy medium. Not complete isolation, but pretty close. Sound quality is a huge plus, as it should be. Sturdy build without being too bulky and very comfortable. I would've liked an in-line volume control and a longer cord, but it just took some minor adjustments in my setup to fix the minor inconvenience. Solid Bose product as usual and thankfully not one of their overpriced component.I would strongly recommend them if you're looking for this sort of thing.

He's an asshole
No, this isn't about the Denis Leary song, although it is a favorite of mine. Just had one of those little moments of coincidence that I enjoy so much. I'm currently reading Ascent of the A-Word by Geofrrey Nunberg. A great book thus far describing the history of the word asshole. As I'm reading another chapeter about how common place the word has become and how it is used to describe certain people, mainly assholes, I hear screaming from my next door neighbor. Nothing troubling, just someone very angry. The volume level and thin walls allow me to catch "He's a fucking asshole! An asshole!"
Perfect. Brought a smile to my face. It's the little things that do it for me.

Sunday Music Club
Weird, for a song I've heard so much, I honestly believe that I've never seen the music video until now.
And you can see it possibly for the first time too.

Conspiracy nuts
There seem to be a lot of them these days, but what I find even more interesting is that so many of their ideas get picked up by the media. Routinely I see articles that the link claims is shocking evidence of some nefarious plot by the government to enslave it's citizens. Then you go to it and all it turns out to be is conjecture based on some non-answer that was given. Just because they denied something isn't as crazy as you make it out to be, doesn't make it proof of your bizarre theory.
Government making big ammo purchases doesn't mean they're trying to buy it all up or round up private citizens while confiscating their guns and ammo. The NRA/gun rights lobby turning up the rhetoric does have a weird coincidence of increase private ammo purchase as well.
A small handful of incidents where atheists try to take down religious symbols in public area, is not some concerted plot to remove personal religious liberty. They don't have secret meetings to discuss how to rid the world of Christmas, Santa Claus, or the Easter Bunny. I might be more sympathetic though, if you quit telling me how much of a Christian nation it is. How prayer has to be a public spectale for your religion, but only your religion or others you approve of. Not wanting to be ostricized for non belief or belief in a religion you don't agree with, well that might be a bit of a problem. And hey, it's not like all you like minded individuals meet every week to discuss your thoughts on the subject.

Friday Cat Blog
As promised, another photo of the little furball of frustration. Pretty uneventful week for the little guy. Destroyed a toy and probably ate whatever makes the shaking sound in it. Nothing out of the ordinary so far, but then again, most of the time he's anything but ordinary.
Here he is from one of his favorite new perches. Notice the ignoring of the nice blanket that is the perfect size, instead nearly falling off the uncomfortable hard, flat surface.

March Meh-ness
Like most red blooded American males, I will be watching the tourney most of the weekend. However, this year even more than usual, I could care less and know even less about the teams. It seems like a lot of mid-major teams made it this year. I'll be following my sort of Alma Mater, Syracuse, but I suspect they will bow out early again in an upset. Plus ever since the sex abuse allegations, I can never look at them the same way. Boeheim might be a damn good coach, but he doesn't have the spotless image he once did.
I'm not even going to attempt to make a prediction. Feels like it should be Friday.

Ben Carson doesn't scare me
I keep hearing from conservatives about this Ben Carson fellow. According to Rush Limbaugh, "liberals are scared to death" over him. I've seen variations that the left/liberal/progressive/Democrats hate him, fear him, or don't even like him. All because he's a conservative, black, neurosurgeon. A pretty darn successful occupation if you ask me, let alone his long list of accomplishments that follow.
I don't hate or fear him. I may not agree with most of his politics, but he certainly doesn't scare me. For one thing, he's never held any elected office that I can tell, yet they're already whispering about a possible Presidential run. Are you kidding me? He might get a decent showing, but I don't think the country is quite ready yet for someone who has never held an office. He might be completely capable and it's not a knock on his accomplishments, but there needs to be some sort of record to go off.
Second, the left is barely talking about him, if at all. I certainly haven't seen a groundswell of hatred or fear.
Third, most people on the left, certainly myself included, don't hate or fear conservatives. Even those that we don't agree with or particularly like, we don't fear the unelected pundits or other opinionated speakers like him. It's the elected politcians and those controlling the purse strings that concern us.
All I'm saying is I'm a little sick of the right constantly telling me what my supposed opinion is on things just because I don't hide from being called a liberal. At least when I discuss conservative, I use their own words, not something I just made up.

Work continues
Continuing to work on the blog some more as I add some more links and tweak some settings further.
Unfortunately I'm also working at night most of this week, so it's off for an early nap before the real fun starts. More to come I swear, although I'm pretty sure at this point, I'm just talking to myself.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
My celebration consisted of having a couple of beers last night and striking out at the bar. Which isn't hard to do when you're fighting a head cold and sneezing half the night. Not only that, they aren't kidding when they say it's amateur night. I'm just glad I wrapped up early. Geez, I'm starting to feel like an old bastard.
In related news, my moronic state legislature along with my halfwit governor have signed a new law which allows bar to open early and serve alcohol on St. Patrick's Day. 6 AM. That's right, you can now get your drink on before the sun rises on St. Patrick's Day. Because that was the most pressing problem, people couldn't drink early enough one day of the year.

Friday Cat blogging
Evidently the whole cat blogging thing started as a way to wind down at the end of the week, primaily on political blogs. Since I have a cat, named Fuzz, and plenty of pictures, I figured why the hell not join the party, so to speak.
Here's a picture of him hanging out on the stairs.
Right now he's skulking after a brushing which he hates. And since he's a fat bastard, he's hungry and pissed that I won't feed him.
So yeah. The posting continues at the new site.

Another day at it
I'm continuing to work out the kinks in the system as I experiment with the new blogging software.
It has some interesting features like what I'm calling the Blogfeed. It does what I had been attempting to do quite naturally.
I will seriously try posting about some actual topics on a daily basis. Of course, I could just be trading in a blog I pay for that no one pays attention to, for a free blog that no one pays attention to. I'll continue to work on the look and feel of things as I figure it out.
Anyway, nothing crazy to share, other than another test post.

First post
So it's a new site. A new layout to get used to. Maybe I'll keep up with it, maybe not.
I guess we'll just have to see.
To start things off, a return to what I usually would post, a music video
